Commercial Dynamometer Testing

Dynamometer testing remains the industry standard for gauging the performance and durability of an automotive motor. Many facilities offer dyno testing, but few have the Engineering background of Mechanical Advantage Racing. We are well versed with OEM component testing, design and product development from companies such as Honda, Borgwarner Turbosystems, Ford, Rotex as well as other industries in which advanced engineering expertise is required to bring a new product to market.

Our reputation has been built on our ability to provide accurate testing and data acquisition at a fair price. Aside from engine dynamometer testing, we provide a number of additional services for — but not limited to — automotive component manufacturers. For all of your testing and simulation/analysis needs, contact Mechanical Advantage Racing first.

Dynamometer Testing at MAR

The Mechanical Advantage Racing LLC. dyno cell, located in Hendersonville, NC, has a Dynocom 5000FX linked double axles chassis dynamometer. MAR specializes in the durability and validation testing for import vehicles, and specializes in the Subaru product platform. Our testing uses custom instrumentation and control equipment tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

MAR’s dynamometer testing expertise encompasses practically every aspect of a vehicle’s power train: engines, engine internals, transmissions, transmission internals, differentials, axles and complete driveline systems. Innovative on-stand conditioning can induce hot, cold and special environments on any rotating component. Our unique tests expose engine components to real world long duration situations while monitoring critical engine parameters. Drive components can be exposed to high rpms (up to 8,000 rpm) with simultaneous performance testing.

Capability highlights include:

  • Monitoring and absorbing at speeds up to 8,000 RPM and torque over 700 ft-lb

  • Automated control, monitoring and data acquisition with torque/speed profile

  • Performance testing, comparison and base-lining

  • Provided chassis to implement components on

Verification Tests

Redline

Typically used for valve-train or bottom end component testing, holds the engine at max (specified) speed.

Used to confirm quality, durability and verification on-

  • Connecting rod bolts

  • Connecting rod

  • Crankshafts

  • Bearings

  • Oil Pump

  • Valve Springs

  • Valves

REDLINE testing runs for a duration of a non continuous 10 hours to simulate engine operation at peak rpm. Once testing is complete, the engine will be torn down and analyzed for wear and the customer will receive a full Engineering report documenting test parameters, tq, hp and the correlating outcomes of the testing.

REDLINE testing starts at $9,999.99

PEAK

Typical used for valve-train or bottom end component testing, holds the engine at max (specified) HP or torque.

Used to confirm quality, durability and verification on-

  • Connecting rod

  • Crankshafts

  • Bearings

  • Pistons

  • Turbocharger

  • Wristpins

  • Camshafts

  • Headstuds

  • Headgaskets

  • Engine Block

  • Gearbox

PEAK testing runs for a duration of a non continuous 2 hours (or customer specified duration) to simulate engine operation at peak power or torque. Once testing is complete, the engine will be torn down and analyzed for wear and the customer will receive a full Engineering report documenting test parameters, tq, hp and the correlating outcomes of the components from the testing.

PEAK testing starts at $7,599.99

PERFORMANCE

Typical used for bolt on modifications.

Used to confirm functionality of various components-

  • Intake Manifold

  • Tumble Generator Valves

  • Turbocharger

  • Pistons

  • Camshafts

  • Gearbox

  • Any bolt on power adding component

PERFORMANCE testing is typically shorter in nature, however it can be as broad as the customer needs. It can be as simple as testing to confirm a predicted power gain, all the way to a full on back to back product comparison. Once testing is complete, components will be removed and analyzed for wear, and an Engineering test report will outline the results.

PERFORMANCE testing starts at $5,599.99

Documentation

Additional documentation is available at additional cost. Documentation can come in the form of an edited video that can either be given to the customer, or added to our own 3rd party Youtube channel for social media exposure. Contact for pricing!
